Welcome to Sandy Cricket Club

Sandy CC has a proud history of playing cricket in East Bedfordshire dating back many decades with our most successful period being the late sixties and early seventies when we featured in some of the most famous cup finals of the generation. During that period, The Millman Cup, Hospital Cup and East Beds Shield were all won with a much renowned and revered side under the captaincy of Richard Banks and Ted Smith based at "The Rec" on Bedford Road. In current times, Sandy are fortunate to boast the best pitches for miles around at our Sunderland Road ground, (accessed via Engayne Avenue) and 2009 saw the introduction of a brand new purpose built pavillion, changing facilities and an electronic scoreboard.

In 2009, Sandy was playing Saturday cricket in the Millman Trophy Division 1 (the top division) and Sunday cricket in the Bedfordshire County League Division Four. For the 2010 Season, we have withdrawn our Saturday XI from the Millman Cricket Competitions and instead we are fielding a Development team of mixed youth and experienced players, who will hopefully form a future Saturday XI to play in the local leagues again. The Sunday XI continues in the County League Division 4, from which we are again keen to secure promotion.

Within our club, we have a major focus on youth development and in 2009 we had teams competing at under 10 and under 12 level of the Bedfordshire Youth League. In the 2010 Season, this will continue and we have a full table of fixtures (see the separate fixture pages). During the winter months, Sandy participated in the Bedfordshire Indoor League Division Two for the 2009/2010 season which saw a welcome return to the Bunyan Centre. We are looking forward to competing again in the 2010/11 Winter Season.
